Ken is a classically trained musician since youth. He first started his musical studies on flute at the age of six migrating to guitar at the age of nine. Raised in Copenhagen, Denmark to a Japanese/Hawaiian mother and a Scandinavian Father, Mogens Jacobsen -- also a conservatory pianist, sculptor and painter -- Ken’s musical roots run deep with grandmother Ingeborg Jacobsen, the successful variety actress.
Ken’s musical talent and interest in audio technology surfaced early in his childhood encouraged by his artistic home environment. He became obsessed with the world of sound recording when he received his first cassette recorder. This introduction to the audio world combined with his musical talent propelled him into the field of audio recording. His schooling, training, professional studies and work throughout Europe and the United States has allowed him to experience the world and its music firsthand giving him a unique perspective of cultures and a multitude of tonal and rhythmic possibilities, which naturally shape and influence his work. This translates into diverse moods and themes.
As a teenager growing up during the heart of the British Wave of heavy rock, Ken caught the heavy-metal tsunami that seemed to cover the planet in the '80s. Always pushing himself, his band-mates and his colleagues to new limits, Ken took the genre in its own direction combining his classical skills with the intensity of the times while injecting progressive rhythms into his songwriting and compositions. Creating an international buzz by touring, writing and producing several albums with his bands, Dark Mission and Unleashed Power, as well as producing other bands under his production company Sort Ltd. and record label Verdict Entertainment, Ken kept busy in the studio and on stage for several years. Under the tutelage of his mentor, friend and multi-platinum award-winning engineer Tom Andersen and producer Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica, Rainbow), Ken acquired advanced production and recording skills working with cutting edge technology. His acclaim as a guitarist, producer, composer and songwriter gained him endorsement deals with Jackson Guitars, Mesa Boogie, Digitech, and others, as well as beta testing for major audio companies such as Apogee Digital and Voodoo Labs. Various projects led to work in numerous studios worldwide: Ra.Sh Studio - Germany, Glen Cove Studies - NY, Feedback Studios - Denmark, Sweet Silence Studios (with Rainbow/Metallica famed engineer Flemming Rasmussen) - Copenhagen, DK as well as with multi-platinum engineer Howie Weinberg and Tony Dawsey at Masterdisk Studios - New York.
